This is the process that is known to senders of balikbayan box but they don’t have any idea on how it is being shipped and handled before it reaches its final destination in Iloilo, Davao, Kalinga, Batangas, Cagayan, Zamboanga and to the rest of the Philippines.
Balikbayan boxes are usually shipped via sea cargo and this entails the service of a Container Ship. Container ships are cargo ships that carry all of their load in truck-size containers, in a technique called containerization. They form a common means of commercial intermodal freight transport.
